The phrase "Miss Globe" has been associated with
numerous editions of beauty contests worldwide. With a history of 100 years
(since 1925), it has been known by various names such as Miss Globe, Miss Globe
International, The Miss Globe, and Miss Globe Organization.
The pageant's first edition in 1925 was created by Alien
Mouradian and was named Dream Girl International. It took place at the Emek
Beyoğlu cinema in Istanbul, Turkey.
After Mouradian relocated to the United States, he
copyrighted the pageant with the Washington DC Patent and Trademark Office and
continued organizing it as Miss Globe in Winnipesaukee, where Alma Cavagnaro
was crowned.
Trademarked by RCA Studios in 1950, the pageant was held
periodically until Charlie See purchased it after Mouradian's death in 1975.
See revived the contest in Turkey and expanded the organization.
Subsequently, an organization in Albania collaborated with
Turkey for a decade to co-host the pageant. However, internal disagreements
arose from 2004 to 2010, leading to individuals who had worked with Charlie See
organizing their own versions, leading to brand separations.
MissGlobe-International.com (domain registered since March
28, 2004) is based in the US. MissGlobe.net (established since December 29,
2010) is headquartered in Turkey. The Miss Globe, amidst disputes between
America, Turkey, and Albania, could not trademark the term "Miss
Globe," prompting a Canadian organization to add the prefix
"The" and register TheMissGlobe.com (domain registered since 2016).
The proliferation of different versions has caused confusion
among fans of the Miss Globe brand. The newly establish
ed The Miss Globe contest has stirred controversy due to
organizational scandals not reflective of the original pageant's standards.
As the 100th anniversary of Miss Globe approaches in 2025,
neutral international
organizations from Switzerland, Singapore, and other countries are eager to
facilitate discussions and negotiations between the US, Albania, and Turkey to
restore the original Miss Globe brand without any additional prefixes or
suffixes.
